San Mateo, the Bikeable City

San Mateo, the Bikeable City

new-slide-4Whether you are an avid bicyclist, or just looking for a more eco-friendly way to get around town, San Mateo is a great place for biking. We’ve got miles of bike lanes and trails, a terrific local outfitter, and a new bike share program. It’s never been easier to bike our city.

Talbots Cyclery has everything you need to get started. This destination bike shop includes hundreds of bikes to buy and rent, and tons of accessories from lights, locks, and helmets to pet carriers, cameras, and car racks. Downtown, you’ll find 50 bike racks so you can park your bike with ease. Many of the racks resemble a real bicycle and are painted bright colors. See Downtown bike rack locations here.

If you don’t have a bike of your own,  look for the new Bay Bikes in Downtown San Mateo and beyond. This bike share program lets members rent a bike from one of the bike share stations, go for a ride, and drop it off at any bike rack in the city!

Biking is good exercise, good for the planet, and way more fun than sitting in traffic. Go for a spin today!
